For a long time, I was not what you would call a morning person. When morning dawned I would start the day with groans and complaints. Once up and moving around I was fine and I would rejoice in the day the Lord made but did that cancel out the grumbling and complaining?  No,  Do everything without complaining or arguing…Phil 2:14,  that includes getting out of bed in the morning.

Truthfully, the reason for my grumpiness in the mornings was because I didn’t go to bed at a reasonable hour so sleep time was too short.  I still have a problem with calling it a day and going to bed at a time that allows me eight hours of sleep before the alarm wakes me. But now I get up and greet the new day content knowing that this is a day to rejoice and be glad. Oh, there are those days when I do some complaining.  That’s when I hear Jesus telling me to hush and He reminds me of Moses’ prayer,

Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love,
so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives. Ps 90:14

Yes, let us be satisfied with His unfailing love!

Blessings this day of grace,
patricia

  1. We are guilty of staying up too late at night too, our evenings are short, but we truly need more sleep to feel rested and ready for another day. I would like to get back to that place of waking up rejoicing for the new day.

    1. I am by nature a night owl though I do enjoy quiet early mornings. It easier to have both now with fewer work days but I still need to have more discipline in getting the proper sleep.

  2. Thanks for the great post, you make it real good point, we all need our sleep in the older we get the more we need. I go to bed promptly after the news 10:30 PM. Eight hours later I still don’t get my rest, so wake up half grumpy.
