Deuteronomy 5:21 niv

We can want the same kinds of things others have but we are not to desire what is theirs.
If we focus on what others have that we don’t have we will never be satisfied,
we will never know contentment if we want what belongs to others.

I have learned the best way to combat feelings of jealousy and envy
is to make a list of what I have and thank the Lord for everything on that list.

How do you fight the battle when you want what is not yours to have?

Hebrews 13:5 esv

small-house-353929_640We may not think we love money but what we do for money
and what we do with it may say differently.
What we spend on what we need, what we spend on what we want,
and how much we give away tells us whether we have a love of money.
We do need money for life’s necessities but we do not need to be rich.
Our greatest wealth is in Jesus and He isn’t going anywhere.

What is your attitude about money?
Would you be happy if you had less?

Philippians 4:11 niv

contentWhen we learn that contentment is not determined by circumstances
and that it comes not from ourselves but from God, then we will be content.
When we allow the Spirit to help us rise above our circumstances,
then we will be satisfied and at rest.

Do you sometimes feel you need to have more (or less) ________?
If you filled in the blank would that satisfy you or would there be something else?

Blessings this day of grace,
