Matthew 28:8,10 niv

moon2As the two women were on their way to tell the disciples about
the empty tomb and what the angel had said to them, they met Jesus.
They touched His feet, yes, He was real, and they worshiped Him.
He gave them the message for the disciples but first
He told them not to be afraid.

Why did He tell the women not to be afraid?
Why does He tell you not to be afraid?
Could it be because He wants you to know;
with Him there is nothing to fear?
(Isa 41:10)

1 John 4:18 hcs

balloons We dwell in the perfect love of God.
But as imperfect people perfect love is not complete in us.
Since we have yet to know the fullness of perfect love
we sometimes feel fearful.
In this life, here on earth, we know fear;
but not the torment and agony of death and judgment
John is referring to in this passage because
God in His love has promised us eternal life with Him in Heaven.

Was there a time when you felt fear that was overwhelming?
How do you deal with fear in your life?

Psalm 27:3 niv

rutsey

Whoever, or whatever, may attack us we have reason to be confident.
We are children of the King and He will send His armies to defend us.
We can be fearless , His armies are always victorious.

Is there a war being waged against you?
What weapons has the Lord given you to use?

Proverbs 9:10 niv

Deep respect and reverence for the Lord leads to wisdom.
Recognizing His holiness and excellence leads to knowledge.
Being in awe of Him leads to understanding.
Understanding leads to fear of the Lord.

Do you fear the Lord or are you afraid of Him?
Do you know the difference?

What I Need To Remember

tulip-border-871297440086Qj5

On April 9 I posted this from Hebrews 13:6.

Fear is something I deal with everyday. I am not proud or happy about this but it is what it is.  Why I fear or have anxious thoughts can be explained for there are valid reasons.  But the reasons are from past experiences and happenings and as such need to be put in proper perspective.  Those episodes of my past are over and done and are to hold no power over me now in this present day.  I am a new creation.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17

Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God–truly righteous and holy.
Ephesians 4:21-24

When I am afraid or anxious I know that my eyes are looking behind me to the past and not straight ahead where my hope resides.

Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.
Proverbs 4:25

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
Isaiah 43:18

Paul said it this way:

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 13:13-14

In the Word we are given all we need to overcome what we fear. But we must do our part.

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
James 1:22

When we are not merely hearers of the Word but doers  then we will  “boldly say, the Lord is my helper, and I will not fear…”  My hope is that if you have fear in your life today you will know you are not alone; there are many of us on this path and we have a Helper.  As I write this I am humbled by our great and gracious God who sees to all our needs.  Glory be to God in this day of grace.

Blessings,
