Matthew 4:11 nlt

skyangel

The angels were not far from Jesus while he was being tempted,
and they are not far from us when we are tempted.
When the devil is tempting us the angels are waiting for us to tell him to
GO AWAY!
The devil will retreat and the angels will descend.
They will comfort us and make us strong and determined
as we continue on our journey of faith.

Do you tell Satan to go away or do you ask him to leave?

Matthew 4:10 niv

mountains-468137_640

The third and final temptation was on a mountaintop where Satan
showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and told Jesus he would
give them to Him if Jesus would bow down and worship him.
Jesus told Satan that we are to worship God and serve only Him.
Not only did Jesus tell Satan what had been written,
He also told the devil to GO AWAY!

When temptations come to you do you recognize tempter?
How long do you listen before you tell him to go away?

Then Satan tempted Him.
Satan tempted Jesus when He was alone, tired and weak from hunger,
not when He was strong and with the disciples.
Today, Satan is no different, he often waits for us to be easy prey,
usually when we are distracted by pain and problems and alone.
We must always be vigilant and on our knees in prayer
especially when we are tired, weak and away from other believers.
Remember we always have the Spirit to help us in our troubles.

When, where and what are your greatest temptations?
How do you answer the tempter?

Matthew 4:1 niv

rocks-208504_640If we think we will never know temptation or be tested by the devil
because we have been baptized and have received the Holy Spirit
we will be very surprised in our day to day lives.
How we respond to the temptations is up to us.
We have the help we need to pass the test every time
we just have to listen to the Teacher.

Genesis 3:6 nlt

tree-668401_640

Satan tempted Eve and she let her imagination
take over and put aside what was real and true.
She put what she knew from God aside.
All she thought of was what she wanted.
In her imagination, the temptation
became bigger and better than God.
There is nothing wrong with imagination but
when we let it rule over what we know is true it can kill us.

Is there something you think about that threatens
to take God’s place in your life?
What makes it so tempting?
